There are over 30 wineries in the Greater Okanagan Valley and the del Ray is within a leisurely 60 minute drive of over half of them. The area’s “desert” climate of warm days and cool nights provide the perfect weather for grape growing and vineyards are plentiful here. The South Okanagan’s small geographical area produces 49% of the grapes used in making British Columbia’s award winning wines.
	Many of these wineries / vineyards offer self-guided or fully guided tours of their facilities and share information about the art of making award winning wines. Several have gift shops and tasting rooms. It’s easy to take a wine tour on your own and at your own pace. Just look for the new “Wine Route” signs posted along Highway 97 and enjoy the scenery and wineries at your leisure.
